Direct Cylinders
Direct cylinders heat the water using one or more immersion heaters, and can be vented or unvented, depending upon how the hot water is distributed across the house to taps and showers.
Indirect Cylinders
Indirect cylinders do not have their own heat source and require an external appliance to provide the heat, such as a boiler or solar panel. Indirect cylinders store heated water for storage or backup.
Unvented Cylinders
In an unvented cylinder, the mains pressure delivers the hot water around your home, negating the need for shower pumps and a header tank. Typically, an unvented cylinder will be used as part of a complete system boiler installation.
Vented Cylinders
Vented cylinders rely on a mains supplied feeder tank typically held in the loft. This system is then gravity fed to distribute heated water around your home. Vented systems tend to be part of traditional boiler installations.
